All excess continuing education credit hours earned in a mandatory category will automatically be reassigned to the Real Estate Related category by DPOR.

Example 1: If you have earned 4 hours of CE credits in the Fair Housing category – which only requires 2 hours – the additional 2 hours will instead be applied to the Real Estate Related category.

Example 2: If you have earned 8 hours of BCE credits in the Broker Management category – which only requires 6 hours – the additional 2 hours will instead be applied to the Real Estate Related category.

After you have completed all continuing education credit hours required for your license renewal, any extra credit hours earned in the last six months of that same licensure period may be eligible to be “carried over" and applied to your current licensure period.

Additional hours you’ve earned will be listed on DPOR’s License Lookup as Surplus CE Hours. If you would like to carry over your surplus CE hours, you must submit a form to DPOR.

Please note that all salespersons and brokers with real estate licenses expiring July 2026 or later must adhere to an updated set of continuing education requirements. For more information about these requirements, visit RARealtors.com/CE-Reallocation.
