I completed my needed 180 education hours for my broker pre-licensing at RAR. What do I do next?
Congratulations! Now that you have completed your education requirements for broker licensure, you must send a completed PSI exam registration form (provided by RAR) and a headshot to [email protected].
Headshots should be in a .jpg file format. The headshot should be a straightforward photo of your face (without filters or editing) and with a blank background (similar to a driver’s license or passport photo).
As your education provider, RAR will send PSI your information to confirm your eligibility to take the VA Broker licensing exam.
You will then receive an email from PSI with instructions on scheduling an exam date. Please be sure to check your spam folder. If you do not receive the email within 24 – 48 hours of RAR submitting the information, please reach out to us at [email protected].
We highly recommend keeping copies of your course certificates as proof of completion of the series.
Where can I find information about the exam, practice test and registration instructions from PSI?
You can find all exam information on the PSI website.
Exams can be taken at a PSI Test Center (Onsite) or Online Proctored (Live). You can find more information about testing options here.
If you choose to test onsite, the test center does not need to be local to Richmond.
I am unable to log in or register for an exam date with PSI. What do I do?
You will need to contact PSI directly. You can contact them via phone at 855.340.3910 or email [email protected].
RAR does not have access to any information held by PSI beyond what RAR submitted.
I failed one of the two sections (national or state) of the exam. What do I do?
You have one year from the date you completed the exam to retake the section. You will be able to register for the section of the exam with PSI.
If you do not complete the failed section within one year, then you will have to re-take both sections.
If I fail or do not test immediately, do I need to retake any Broker Pre-Licensing Education?
No, you do not. Your Pre-licensing education does not expire. We highly recommend keeping copies of your certificates as proof of completing the 180 hours of education. Your completed education does not expire, but your exam scores are valid for only 1 year.
I passed the exam! What do I do next?
Congratulations! Complete the Broker Application and Experience Verification Forms and submit them directly to DPOR. Please note there is a fee when submitting your application. RAR cannot assist with the application process; you will need to contact DPOR for assistance.
Exam scores are valid for one year. You must submit the application before the exam score expires. You can find more detailed information on how to apply on the DPOR website.
DPOR may take several weeks to process the application. Once the application is processed, your information on DPOR’s License Lookup will be updated to reflect the license type, expiration date, and continuing education information.
